Klaus (2019)

Klaus is a movie that once again proves the power of animation as a wonderful storytelling medium. “A true selfless act always sparks another”, this line from the movie Klaus beautifully sums up the central idea of the story.

It is a Santa Claus origin story but at the same time, it’s so much more than that. Klaus is a very good movie at many levels. For example, the story has a beautiful flow to it, and the classic style of animation used in this movie adds to this flow remarkably.

What’s so Special?

There are so many good things about the story alone that it gets very hard to write a review without spoilers. Apart from the beautiful story, the visuals look stunning. This movie beautifully blends classic 2d animation style with modern 3d visuals in a very creative way.

Every scene in this movie looks flawless. Character choreography and the general feel around all movements in this movie look so delightful. 

This is the kind of movie where you are likely to pause and admire the creativity. But at the heart of this animated story is the brilliantly timed comedy. Jokes don’t feel forced, rather the amount of comic content is masterfully balanced.

The storyline is paced perfectly. Despite an average runtime, the story feels complete and it’s thoroughly enjoyable.

Sergio Pablos has done a remarkable job in writing and directing this movie. The quality of work clearly shows. Although this movie has a seasonal theme, it can surely be a delight to watch any day of the year.

Is Klaus Worth Watching?

Klaus no doubt is one of the leading animated movies available on Netflix. The story, the quality of animation, and everything else about this movie feels so good.  

Klaus is the kind of movie, that’ll certainly make you fall in love with animation.
